if you are Alberto Gonzalez and you admit this:

Gonzales, Mueller admit FBI broke law
(AP)
The nation's top two law enforcement officials acknowledged Friday the FBI broke the law to secretly pry out personal information about Americans.

Do you really believe you can end it with this?:
They apologized and vowed to prevent further illegal intrusions.

I blame everything on Cheney.

He is also the one that was in charge of hitting the World Trade Center with his deep undercover operatives using the super secret homing beacon from building 7. Then the hundreds of prepositioned explosives were set off to bring the towers down.

Jenise, As far as your comments abouts communism Thursday.I really am a neotribalist/socialist/communist. Don't look for my name in the membership rolls though, as I never officially joined the party. The party in my state of Washington closed in 2000.

Don't confuse your thinking about some other people that haven't been around for a very very long time. Searches show they haven't been on here or there since far back into last year.

When you see the generic name of Nobody, sometimes it is the Nobody from majorityreportradio or here and sometimes it is one of the thousands of Nobodys from the internet. Regardless, I am a real Nobody that has posted with that nickname for a very long time in several places and I am certainly no one else from here or that has been here before.

Click on my name for some interesting stories.

Before any of you go off making wild bogus accusations that don't make sense you should do a search of the blogs.

A search shows that there never was a poster with the nick of Legion. However there was a nick of Gare long long ago.

This just shows that people can imagine almost anything in their head that has no basis in fact.

The best thing you can do is IGNORE any snarky postings rather that post false accusations about anyone.

Riot Erupts Over Bush Tour

George Bush has arrived in Columbia as violent protests erupted in capital Bogota.

He is the first American President to enter the country in 25 years.

About 150 protesters attacked riot police with rocks and metal barriers just moments after Mr Bush landed for a six-hour stopover.

About 200 police responded with water cannon and tear gas to reclaim a street, about a mile from the presidential palace.

Some of the rioters later rampaged on Bogota's main avenue, breaking shop windows and ripping computers from bank offices.

The rioters had broken away from a larger group of 2,000 protesters.

I was like peace in a groove
On a sunday afternoon
You were there so was I
In the park 4th of July
I was chillin' with my Kool-Aid
When Miss Chilli came to relay
That you had a thang for me
Finest thang you'd ever seen
I must admit to you
I've heard them lines a time or two
Although for some apparent reason
Monkey lines are now in season
Lights off, lights on
I guess the groove is on so I am

Diggin' the scene
Diggin' on you
Diggin' on me
Baby bay-ooo-baby baby
It's on like that
It's on like that
I gotta be in love or somethin' like that

I was like deep in a cool
What'nt gone be nobody's fool
Could not care less who was there
Could've been like anywhere
I was chillin' with my Kool-Aid
Did not want to par-ti-ci-pate
In no silly conversations
Had no time for new relation-ships
I must admit to you
When I heard the lines you threw
Although it usually turns me off
But this time you have turned me on
Lights off, lights on
I guess the groove is on and I am

Oh why do I feel the way I do
When all I can think about is you
Diggin' diggin' diggin' on you
What was it in a line
That made me fall for you
Do you know
Why I'm diggin' diggin' diggin' diggin' on you

There are religious people and there are "religious" people.

Who is this person ("religious" or religious, I let you make the call) who asked Hillary Clinton for forgiveness?

Is it a rabid kos borg? A maniacal Huffington sycophant? A Falwell fan? Ralph Reed's little cousin? A former MSNBC contributor? Who? And no, its not David Brock.

Have a guess. I left out the bit marked with *** cause it would give it away immediately:

"I was that person who apologized. As I wrote about in full detail in my ******** I did so after years and years of hating the Clintons. But is her words that matter because they were humble and healing and full of faith. I hope she can bring that same spirit to her campaign because we are certainly a country in need of all those things whether she becomes president or not."

WEST HOLLYWOOD, California (AP) -- Richard Jeni, a standup comedian who played to sold-out crowds, was a regular on the "Tonight Show" and appeared in movies, died of a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide, police said Sunday.

Police found the 45-year-old comedian alive but gravely injured in a West Hollywood home when they responded to a call Saturday morning from Jeni's girlfriend, Los Angeles Police Officer Norma Eisenman said.

Eisenman said the caller told police: "My boyfriend shot himself in the face."

Jeni died at a nearby hospital.

Eisenman said suicide had not been officially confirmed and the investigation was continuing.

Jeni regularly toured the country with a standup act and had starred in several HBO comedy specials, most recently "A Big Steaming Pile of Me" during the 2005-06 season.

Another HBO special, "Platypus Man," won a Cable ACE award for best standup comedy special, and formed the basis for his UPN sitcom of the same name, which ran for one season.

Jeni's movie credits included "The Mask," in which he played Jim Carrey's best friend, "The Aristocrats," "National Lampoon's Dad's Week Off," and "An Alan Smithee Film: Burn, Hollywood, Burn."

GOP Blocks Minimum Wage Increase Voted For By Dems
Associated Press | March 10, 2007 01:32 PM

At first, legislation to raise the minimum wage loomed as a clean, quick triumph for Democrats eager to celebrate their new majority in Congress. Two months later, it stands as an early lesson in the limits of their power.

A cohesive Republican minority backed by the White House, the Senate's complex rules and internal divisions among Democrats have combined to slow the measure's progress since it cleared its first hurdle in mid-January.

Billy Walkabout, decorated American Indian veteran, dies at 57

MONTVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Billy Walkabout, a native Cherokee whose actions in Vietnam made him among most decorated soldiers of the war, died March 7 in Connecticut.
He was 57.

Walkabout received the Distinguished Service Cross, Purple Heart, five Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars. He was believed to be the most decorated Native American soldier of the Vietnam War, according to U.S. Department of Defense reports.

Walkabout was born in Cherokee County, Okla., on March 31, 1949, and lived much of his life in Oklahoma.

At the time of his death, Walkabout and his wife, Juanita Medbury-Walkabout, lived in a portion of eastern Connecticut that is home to many Mashantucket Pequot, Mohegan and other Native American tribal members.

Walkabout's official cause of death was not given. The Native American Times reported on its website that he had been fighting complications of exposure to Agent Orange, a defoliant used by the military during the Vietnam conflict.

Walkabout, a Cherokee of the Blue Holley Clan, was an 18-year-old Army Ranger sergeant when he and 12 other soldiers were sent on an assassination mission behind enemy lines on Nov. 20, 1968, in a region southwest of Hue.

However, they ended up in the enemy's battalion area and came under fire for hours, during which he was seriously wounded. Several of the other 12 men were killed at the scene, while the rest later died of their injuries.

Walkabout's citation for the Distinguished Service Cross said he simultaneously returned fire, helped his comrades and boarded other injured soldiers onto evacuation helicopters.

"Although stunned and wounded by the blast, Sgt. Walkabout rushed from man to man administering first aid, bandaging one soldier's severe chest wound and reviving another soldier by heart massage," the citation states. "Only when the casualties had been evacuated and friendly reinforcements had arrived, did he allow himself to be evacuated."

White House Aides: Cheney's Office "Out Of Control"
Newsweek | March 11, 2007 08:08 PM

That doesn't mean Libby will be denied a pardon. Former White House aides, who didn't want to be named discussing Bush's strategizing, say they believe the president will ultimately grant him one. Libby may just have to wait, probably until after the '08 election. "The president has absolute authority, and we've seen in the final days of a presidency all bets are off," McClellan says. "But I'd be surprised if he did anything before the legal process has run its course, and there's been a request through formal channels."

That reluctance to bend the rules may stem from a feeling inside the White House that Libby, though loyal and well liked, went too far. Even if Bush is "sad" about Libby's conviction, Libby did lie to the FBI and made the administration look bad. "What you saw was a vice president's office that was out of control," says a former White House staffer who asked not to be named talking about internal discussions. According to trial testimony, White House aides Karl Rove and Ari Fleischer both disclosed the identity of Wilson's wife to reporters. But the way the White House sees it, Rove and Fleischer "went up to the line," the staffer says, "but they didn't cross it. The vice president's office crossed it." Now Bush has to decide how long he'll make Libby wait on the other side.

This is just a miniature version of Iraq. The city wasted $1,000,000 doing nothing. One smart and dedicated Black man houses 25 homeless people with $3,000.

There has to be a way to make money directly available to people like himself. A way to identify real movers and shakers, and just fund them, instead of state or government initiatives, especially in a city as corrupted as Miami.

There should be a fund that puts money into the hands of dedicated activists. I mean, think of all the funds that are out there.

Also visit Take Back The Land at Blogspot.

PS, make a documentary that features the advancement of Black people, and notice how all the Dylan Klebold lookalikes keep whining and making video 'responses' about how terrible it is how everyone is depending on the government. I'm sorry, but they're bringing out my own homicidal instincts.

Iraqis Flee City as Militants Burn Homes
By DAMIEN CAVE
BAGHDAD, March 11 — Sunni militants burned homes in a mixed city northeast of Baghdad on Saturday and Sunday, forcing dozens of families to flee and raising the specter of a new intimidation tactic in Iraq’s evolving civil war, Iraqi officials and witnesses said.

Militants also continued their campaign against Shiite pilgrims on Sunday, striking as the pilgrims returned home from the southern city of Karbala after observances there for the Arbaeen holiday drew millions of people over the weekend. The worst attack, a car bombing, killed at least 19 people in Baghdad as they were riding home from the south in a pickup.

Attackers burned both Sunni and Shiite homes in a neighborhood of Muqdadiya, a city of about 200,000 in Diyala Province, about 60 miles from Baghdad. There were differing reports about how many houses were affected. A security official in Diyala said that at least 30 houses were completely burned, including occupied and abandoned buildings, while a Sunni Arab politician from the area said that only six houses were destroyed. Some witnesses said as many as 100 houses were set on fire.

Victims from both sects blamed the Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella organization for Sunni extremists that has taken over several other towns in the area. Residents said the group had recently demanded money, weapons and oaths of support from the local populace.

They said the burnings were intended to scare people into giving in or running away. Dozens of families fled the city, either left homeless by the attacks or terrified that they would be next.

“I left everything behind because I didn’t want to contribute to harming other Iraqis,” said Abu Muhammad Khailani, a Sunni, who said he escaped to a Shiite village for protection.

Gonzales: "What Else Do You Want Us To Do?"
By Paul Kiel - March 11, 2007, 1:51 PM
From The Washington Post:

Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales met privately with top members of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday to offer an olive branch, but he did not seem too happy about it.

Gonzales had agreed to let Congress limit his powers and interview Justice Department officials as part of an escalating battle over the firings of eight U.S. attorneys. He knew that another scandal on FBI abuses was about to break and that some GOP lawmakers were hinting that he was in over his head.

"What else do you want us to do?" the normally taciturn Gonzales asked in exasperation, according to several officials with knowledge of the meeting.

Someone is getting nervous!

Maxine Waters Cuts Through Iraq Spin
By: SilentPatriot @ 6:50 PM - PDT

(Guest blogged by Logan Murphy)

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) appeared on Fox Sunday with Chris Wallace this morning to discuss her Iraq proposal. As usual, he hurled the same tired talking points at her and, as usual, she stands her ground. When asked the inevitable, "What message does it send the terrorists if we cut and run" question, she replied:

Download (1204) | Play (1050) Download (555) | Play (689)

"Well, I think cut and run is a kind of language that has been used by this administration and others to intimidate those of us who are responding to the American people's desire to get our soldiers out of Iraq. Our soldiers are dying every day. Civilians are dying by the thousands - uh, in Iraq. I just don't want to wake up one morning to find that they have bombed one of our compounds and hundreds of our soldiers have been killed."

Hi toniD,

I'm kind of concerned about the long term
effects pain medication can have on the
liver. That's one of the reasons why I look
for alternatives. I found sometimes traditional
medicine only provides temporary relief through
pain meds. I've mentioned acupuncture here
several times and have used it for different
things and it's always helped. When my insurance
didn't pay for it I paid for it myself and it's usually
pretty inexpensive.

As I recall I think you said you tried it and it didn't do
anything and you had to pay for it yourself.

You might want to look into a Chinese herbalist.
I've only heard good things about them.
I'm not proseltysing Chinese medicine or anything.
I'm just a miserable patient, hate being sick or
injured and after a while when one thing doesn't
work I'm open to try something else.

Your courage and effort to maintain
active inspite of your condition is
an inspiration.

Thanks NC. I usually have a high tolorance for pain. Even the doctor is amazed.

I try not to take the pain medicines unless I really need them. Usually it's a cyclical thing they call a flare with RA. I'm about due for some shots anyway.

But my knee has no cartiledge left and the pain is really bad. Not as bad as my hip though. Now I have a fairly new hip joint and no pain. What I really need to do is commit to the knee replacement. I have been putting it off for 4 years now. I know it will need to be done soon because nothing will help relieve the pain anymore.

I'm trying to hold out until May when the college kids get home. I figure one would want my hours for the summer and by fall, when they go back to college, I'll be able to work again.

Mr. Seder, I think you do a lot of damage on liberal radio (I am a strong Democrat). Your rantings sound like an angry college student-your voice is not good on radio-it's a strident, high pitch voice that grates the nerves.
After listening to Thom Hartmann, Laura Flanders, etc, I believe we need well-spoken, well informed presenters-we need to listen to good interviews of knowledgable people.
I don't like the way you talk about your "kid"-most adults speak of their children.
It would be a gift to the Democratic Party for you to resign.

White House Document Dump: An Iraq War shell-game

"The White House pulled another fast one on Friday, though so far the whole thing has gone unnoticed. It's a classic Bush & Co. document dump, with a twist.

Bush is traveling abroad, while his administration is rocked by one major scandal after another, and the escalation in Iraq just rescalated. What better time then to get some Awkward News out? This Awkward News happens to concern the military budget.

The twist here is that in the letter Bush sent to Nancy Pelosi asking Congress to give the DOD more money, he gave a seriously misleading account of what he planned to do with it all. In the letter, Bush claims that the money is needed for base closures. The truth of the matter emerges only once you examine a document sent along with that letter.

And the truth is that Bush wants to cut billions of dollars from domestic programs partly in order to pay for troop deployments in Iraq."

Read this, it's worth it.

Cars that make hybrids look like gas guzzlers
Plug-in versions can go 100 miles on a gallon of gasoline
Sherry Boschert

Sunday, March 4, 2007
Main Opinion Page
Chronicle Sunday Insight

Toyota Prius owners tend to be a proud lot since they drive the fuel-efficient hybrid gas-electric car that's the darling of mainstream environmentalists and one of the hottest-selling vehicles in America. A few, however, felt that good was not good enough. They've made "improvements" even though the modifications voided parts of their warranties.

Ron Gremban of Corte Madera did it. So did Felix Kramer of Redwood City, and Sven Thesen of Palo Alto. Why? Five words: one hundred miles per gallon.

"We took the hybrid car to its logical conclusion," Kramer says, by adding more batteries and the ability to recharge by plugging into a regular electrical socket at night, making the car a plug-in hybrid.

Compared with the Prius' fuel efficiency of 50 mpg, plug-in hybrids use half as much gasoline by running more on cleaner, cheaper, domestic electricity. If owners forget to plug in overnight, it's no big deal -- the car runs like a regular hybrid.

These trendsetters monkeyed with the car for more than their own benefit. They did it to make a point: If they could make a plug-in hybrid, the major car companies could, too. And should.

Kramer, Gremban and a cadre of volunteers formed the California Cars Initiative (online at calcars.org), and in 2004 converted Gremban's Prius to a plug-in hybrid in his garage. They added inexpensive lead-acid batteries and some innovative software to fool the car's computerized controls into using more of the energy stored in the batteries, giving the car over 100 mpg in local driving and 50 to 80 mpg on the highway. The cost of conversion is about $5,000 for a do-it-yourselfer.

NY Times: New Medicaid rules victimize poor Americans RAW STORY
Published: Sunday March 11, 2007

According to a story in tomorrow's New York Times (reg. req.), new Medicaid rules intended to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving benefits are having the unintended consequence of excluding tens of thousands of American citizens who are unable to provide a birth certificate or other proofs of citizenship.

Some officials acknowledge that at the same time, they have found almost no illegal immigrants on the Medicaid roles.

Excerpts:

#
A new federal rule intended to keep illegal immigrants from receiving Medicaid has instead shut out tens of thousands of U.S. citizens who have had difficulty complying with requirements to show birth certificates and other proof-of-citizenship documents, state officials say.

................

Under a 2006 federal law, the Deficit Reduction Act, most people who say they are U.S. citizens and want Medicaid must provide "satisfactory documentary evidence of citizenship," which could include a passport or the combination of a birth certificate and a driver's license.

Some state officials say the Bush administration went beyond the law in some ways -- for example, by requiring people to submit original documents or copies certified by the issuing agency.

"The largest adverse effect of this policy has been on people who are American citizens," said Kevin W. Concannon, director of the Department of Human Services in Iowa, where the number of Medicaid recipients dropped by 5,700 in the second half of 2006, to 92,880, after rising for five years. "We have not turned up many undocumented immigrants receiving Medicaid in Waterloo, Dubuque or anywhere else in Iowa," Concannon said.

Lot of good writers there, ono. I'll get around to it someday, but just commenting there was a big step for me. I've lurked there for a while, and there are some damn smart individuals there. And people who understand politics way better than me.

They're also much more pragmatic, as a whole, than I am. I am an idealist, and I understand that idealism can cloud one's thinking. I am still too full of piss and vinegar to want to compromise my beliefs, and that is not how one reaches new voters. kos is an openly partisan site, and most of what I have to say is left, not necessarily Democratic.

Still enjoy the discussions, though.
