Announcing

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that this week will be the last week of the Sam Seder Show on Air America. As you know, Air America recently came out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy and the new management wants to go in a different direction with the 9-Noon (est) time slot. However, as much as I would like to spend more time with Alberto Gonzales’ family, he will be doing so shortly, freeing me up to do a Sunday afternoon show on Air America Radio. The show is tentatively known as Seder on Sundays and I am excited to get it started.

I am very proud of the three years I have broadcast on Air America Radio. I am particularly proud of the Sam Seder Show. We started the show as AAR was entering bankruptcy, when things around here were pretty hectic and insecure. The Sam Seder juggernaut, as no one but me called us, was able to maintain all of our affiliates that stayed with the progressive format through our bankruptcy. While it’s a bit early to judge, (our first full “book” is out in a couple of weeks) our ratings were looking pretty good and we dramatically increased AAR’s streaming numbers during this time slot. Most importantly, though, was the support and response we received from you, our audience. You'll never know just how helpful and motivating your comments, calls, emails and letters have been to me and my family and I greatly appreciate it.

I hope all of you will join me when I begin the Sunday show in the next month and a half or so. Of course, I’ll be maintaining this blog and continuing to promise to fix it. ( I mean it this time, I am serious!) I actually have some rather large plans for this site and its offerings but am not prepared to discuss them at the moment.

Anyway, over the next week I’ll be posting more about my plans, this site, Seder on Sundays and reflecting upon the last three years.

My email address is posted in the left hand column of this blog— drop me an email if you want to receive updates in the future. And tune in this week! I really don’t know how I am going to break this to Dewey.

Sam, I am absolutely devastated that I will not be able to listen to your show everyday Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon EST. This is such a disappointment. I just don't understand what's going on with the new management.

I have been listening to you since the beginning. It's been great to watch your grow. I think you are one of the best interviewers on AAR. You do your homework.

I'll be listening this week and I am anxious to hear more about your new show on Sunday. Really, you are so much fun. The Bush years have been very depressing, but I always know that I can get a laugh out of you and your team.

I wish you all the best in the future.

Sam, you are one of my favorite Air America hosts (along with Rachel Maddow). You are smart and funny. I have listened to every show, and I have enjoyed every one. You and your staff have done a great job.

We recently lost our local AAR station. It was run by people who don't have a clue what they were doing. AAR management needs to focus on building a stable network and stop tinkering with the shows. Canceling your show is just one more example of AAR management incompetence, now 2.0.

I will keep listening to you on Sundays, and I hope you find something even better in the future. Thanks for helping me keep my sanity in a country that has become FUBAR.

Ican't believe that once again a much loved show is taken from us.
Other stations keep their popular
shows on for years. Seems like AAR
finds that very Show we the public
really enjoy,and off they go.

Glad the show was not an extended bad joke.
Hilarious and informative.

Sam, you were the only thing that made the loss of Morning Sedition not feel so awful. Now there's no reason to listen to AAR at all. Don't those idiotic Green brothers know that? God knows they're ignoring their e-mail; all the Seditionisti have been e-mailing, to no avail.

Damn right we'll be there on Sundays. And hey, I hear there may be a spot opening from 6 AM - 10 AM on WFAN, simulcast on MSNBC soon...there's a lot of pressure to fire Imus. Just thought you'd want to be first in line for that one. ;)

Just one thing, Sameleh -- there IS no left-hand column of this blog...

Seder says goodbye... for now

Whad'ya know? Just got home, decided to surf the web a little while my Easter dinner digests (damn these holidays are brutal...), and lo and behold - Sam Seder has just posted a goodbye message on his blog, announcing the end of his weekday show and the pending debut of his new Sunday show. Here's an excerpt:

I had a feeling AAR was in trouble when they fired Malloy and Maron and then Janeane left.......

I prolly have my timetable wrong....

Randi is great......

But after all those people left that left alot of weight on Seder's shoulders.

Now that Seder is going, all AAR has to do is get rid of Randi and they will have successfully got rid of all the cool at AAR.

Might as well cut AAR's hair and send it to rehab. :D

Damn, Sam!
That is FUBAAAHED (FU'd beyond anything Air America has ever done).

Who did the Green Bros. hire to make programming choices? Monica Goodling?
(I say that not because she's a Bush Repub or because she needs a new job, but rather because she looks like someone who doesn't get jokes and wouldn't understand, apparently like AA's management, that your show was smart, funny, entertaining, informative and insightful.)
Good luck on Sundays and the TV show you'll get one day.

Sam,

You were really all that was left of the best of the AAR heyday. I can't imagine what they are planning to do. Run away as hard and as fast as your legs will carry you.

Thanks for everything. You deserve better. Hopefully the Sunday show will be available for free download while I try to get the local to pick it up. That will probably not happen unless you sell some snake oil.

All the best. We love you. I cannot wait until Sam Seder is back in full effect somewhere that you are appreciated, supported, and (cha-ching effect) remunerated.

Hey ToniD........

I was thinking about frying some Fish: What I was thinking was mixing egg and milk, then dipping the fish in that, then rolling it in bread crumbs and tossing it into the oil.

Is there a better way?

toniD said...

Sounds good to me Bob. What kind of fish?

zeek said...

I was getting ready to fry some fish, too. I hope this answer is swift.

I usually go fish into milk, into seasoned flour, into egg, back into seasoned flour, then into hot oil skillet.

Bob26003 said...

Whiting.........

I figure the egg will make the bread crumbs stick.

Last time I didnt have eggs, so I just used milk and the the break crumbs came off the fish and floated in the oil :/

Bob26003 said...

That sounds good zeek. Any problems with the breading sticking?

toniD said...

Or you could bake the fish. Mush more healthy.

Good white fish like Cod or Talapia.

Squeeze lemon on fish. Place in baking dish.
Spread bread crumbs thickly on top of fish.
Add Salt & Pepper and Garlic powder and Fresh or dried parsley.

Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in micro (about 30 sec. ). Drizzle on top of the breadcrumbs.

Add abput 2/3rds cup of Chicken Broth.

Bake at 350 for 1/2 hour.

toniD said...

Sorry for the typos. Arthritis kicking in tonight big time.

Hello, Wheeling.

I just decided to mix the eggs and the milk and just take two passes in the flour. The batter usually sticks. The oil needs to be very hot.

tonid bake concept is a very good one, too. I use parchment or foil to keep fish intact

Harman On Iraq: We Should Take ‘Success’ Out Of Our Lexicon; ‘Survival’ Is More Logical »
ThinkProgress recently sat down with Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA), a senior member of the House Homeland Security Committee. Asked about her prognosis for the future of Iraq, Harman said, “I don’t think that the surge will succeed because I think our combat mission cannot succeed. And putting more good lives after good lives, as I put it, doesn’t make any sense to me.” She recommended, “we should take the word ’success’ out of our lexicon. ‘Stability’ and ’survival’ are more logical.”

Harman noted she “does not want us to leave Iraq.” Rather, she explained, “I’m someone who supports an ongoing mission in Iraq. But I don’t think a combat mission is the right mission.” Watch it:

That's right Zeek. The oil needs to be very hot.

When I have time, I chope up som celery, carrot, onion, garlic and fresh parsley in a food processer.

I put that on top of the fish b4 I put on the bread crumbs. Then the butter, then the chicken broth and bake. Great with mashed potatoes and broccoli on the side.

April 6-8, 2007 -- The CIA's Counter-Proliferation Division (CPD) and British intelligence have evidence that then-Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney lost three nuclear weapons in 1991. This was later used as a pretext to create the phony Niger yellowcake uranium story in the event the nukes showed up in Iraqi hands. At least one of the nukes, however, ended up in the hands of North Korea. WMR has been told by a well-placed intelligence source in Britain that in early February 1991, the Pentagon sent out an emergency message rarely seen: three "Broken Arrows," or lost nuclear weapons in U.S. possession, were jettisoned in the Indian Ocean by a U.S. Air Force B-52, which had caught fire en route from Diego Garcia with three weapons of mass destruction being transported from South Africa after that nation began dismantling its nuclear weapons program.

http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/

Ajata said...

On a return emergency route back to the U.S. base on Diego Garcia, the crew of the aircraft disposed of the bombs to avoid a cook off of their heat-triggered fuses. The B-52 later crashed. The three bombs landed in shallow waters off the Somali coast. Rather than retrieve the weapons, Cheney and the Bush I administration sat on their hands. In May 1991, the bombs were allegedly recovered by mercenaries working for Zimbabwean arms dealer John Bredenkamp, who is close to the regime of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe. The North Koreans have had a long standing military relationship with Mugabe and Bredenkamp.

Ajata said...

WMR has learned that, although there was speculation the lost nuclear weapons ended up in the hands of Iran (and a strong but false belief by Cheney and his neo-con advisers that they went to Iraq), at least one was transferred to North Korea. Dr. Stephen Dresch, a former Michigan legislator and head of Forensic Intelligence, Inc., who helped criminally link FBI agent Lindley DeVecchio and mobster Greg Scarpa, Sr. of the Colombo crime family, discovered that the lost U.S. nuclear weapons wound up on the international black market and his report on the incident reached MI-6 in December 2003. Dresch also attended, along with a professional photographer, the coroner's inquest of British Ministry of Defense weapons of mass destruction expert Dr. David Kelly in 2004. There is reason to believe that Kelly was fully aware that one of the lost nuclear weapons was transferred to North Korea by international arms smugglers and that this information was also known to Vice President Cheney. Dresch died last August at age 62 of lung cancer.

Ajata said...

On August 21, 2006, WMR reported the following: "As the Bush-Cheney administration gears up for a planned military attack on Iran, there is renewed interest by European intelligence analysts in the July 17, 2003 reported "suicide" of British Ministry of Defense weapons of mass destruction (WMD) specialist and UN Iraq weapons inspector Dr. David Kelly. In what is widely believed to have been a Blair government cover-up, Lord Hutton, in his official report, concluded that Kelly committed suicide in a wooded area near his Oxfordshire home using a dull knife to cut his left wrist and ingesting 29 over-the-counter analgesic tablets.

Ajata said...

With the Bush administration now using the Iraq playbook to justify an attack on Iran, Kelly's knowledge about the disappearance of two South African nuclear-tipped missiles from a U.S. B-52 that crashed in the Indian Ocean in February 1991 may have sealed the British scientist's fate. The two tactical nuclear weapons, being shipped to the United States for de-arming after South Africa's minority government of President F.W. DeKlerk scrapped the nation's nuclear weapons arsenal, created by the apartheid government with the technical assistance of Israel, were lost after a U..S. Air Force B-52 carrying them from the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia to the United States crashed as a result of multi-engine failure off the Somali coast. The plane had developed electrical problems after leaving Diego Garcia and was attempting a return to the island with its sensitive cargo. Three crew members of the B-52 parachuted to safety but three others were killed when the plane crashed into shallow waters off the Somali coast.

Ajata said...

Kelly was a British security services asset who knew about the South African nuclear weapons program. He was also aware that a neo-con disinformation story that the two South Africans tactical nukes were retrieved by weapons dealers, sent to Oman, and sold to Iran for the cannibalization of their weapons-grade uranium was false. In fact, Kelly knew that then-Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney was well aware of the loss and subsequent retrieval of the nuclear weapons by covert U.S. intelligence assets but failed to warn the United Nations pursuant to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as required under U.S. law. The United States was a party to the NPT at the time of the "loss" of the South African weapons. Moreover, all of the countries reported to have been involved in the weapons shipment -- South Africa, Oman, and Somalia -- were also parties to the NPT. It is feared that the weapons-grade uranium from the South African nukes will be used as a "smoking gun" to show Iran's possession of nuclear weapons -- perhaps in a dirty bomb "found" entering Lebanon to Hezbollah forces from Syria. Such an event would give the neo-cons justification for simultaneous attacks on Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran."

Ajata said...

British intelligence assets met with the arms smugglers in an attempt to have the three W-69M-type nuclear warheads bought back by apartheid South Africa using false shipping documents. However, there was no interest in selling the nuclear weapons back to the outgoing apartheid regime, so the Bush I administration finally decided to act. One of the reasons George H. W. Bush and Cheney decided to send Delta Force and the Marines into Somalia in February 1991 was to try and recover the lost weapons. But they were too late. The nukes had already landed on the international black market. Bredenkamp's network was soon supplemented by additional players, including Russian smugglers like Viktor Bout and members of the post-Soviet Russian-Israeli Mafia. The lost South African warheads were plutonium devices and the North Korea N-test was a plutonium blast, not a uranium test.

Ajata said...

There were three, not two, missing nuclear weapons. Although there was an attempt by the British to secure the weapons, they were never recovered. Bredenkamp's offices and home in Britain were searched last October by the British Serious Fraud Office allegedly for bribes paid to Saudi princes in return for lucrative Saudi arms and defense systems deals for British companies to which Bredenkamp was linked. However, WMR has learned that the Saudi bribe story was a cover and that the actual investigation was to uncover records of the smuggling of the three nuclear devices. WMR has also learned that a major reason for Cheney and Scooter Libby falsifying the Niger yellowcake uranium documents was to provide an explanation for the presence of the lost nuclear weapons in Iraq, even though had this been the case, the nuclear material would have been plutonium, not uranium. There is also informed speculation that all three missing nukes are accounted for, but that all three were obtained by the North Koreans.

Unknown said...

as you know adapting to what is is the trick.

Ajata said...

Although WMR has learned that the lost nuclear weapons did not go to either Iraq or Iran, Cheney could have been caught up in a major scandal of his cover-up of the three lost nukes in 1991. WMR has learned that British Prime Minister Tony Blair was informed about the lost U.S. nukes before the Iraq War in 2003. He was also informed by British intelligence that these nuclear weapons had not ended up in Iraqi hands and that the massive U.S. military build-up against Saddam Hussein was a product of Cheney wrongly believing that the lost nukes were in the possession of the Iraqis. Cheney also later falsified intelligence to show that the North Korean bomb was procured from a DIY (do-it-yourself) kit obtained from the A Q Khan nuclear smuggling network in Pakistan.

********

Can you imagine.... All this shit that Cheney is doing .... think of what kind of a world he is living in ... the coverups are beyond complex ... how that must be weighing on a persons soul... even if you are a Dick that doesn't have one.

Unknown said...

evening Catharina!

that is an interesting story is'nt it.

wonder how many nukes got away from cheney and the Boyz in total?

Ajata said...

OOooh... it gets better....

***

Cheney chose to attack and roll up Valerie Plame Wilson and her Brewster Jennings and Associates non-official cover firm network in an attempt to throw them off the trail of the missing nukes. There is speculation that missing retired Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and FBI agent Robert Levinson, a private investigator who recently disappeared on the Iranian free trade island of Kishn on a trip from Dubai, may have been tracking the lost nukes. Levinson is a veteran of investigating Russian-Israeli mobsters, weapons smugglers operating out of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and drug smuggling. Levinson is quoted in the late Robert Friedman's trailblazing book on the Russian-Israeli Mafia, Red Mafiya: How the Russian Mob Has Invaded America.

Ajata said...

April 6-8, 2007 -- St. Louis industrialist and major GOP donor Sam Fox, who contributed money to the anti-John Kerry Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in 2004 and who received a recess appointment by George W. Bush as U.S. ambassador to Belgium, after having his name withdrawn by the White House, should have an interesting time dealing with the CIA Station in Brussels. Fox is also a charter member of the Lewis "Scooter" Libby Defense Fund. Libby was found guilty of lying and obstructing justice in a Justice Department investigation of the disclosure of the covert CIA status of Valerie Plame Wilson and her CIA non-official cover company, Brewster Jennings & Associates. That fact will not sit well with the CIA Station in Brussels, which among other things, tracks the flow of illegal money, diamonds, and nuclear material from Africa to Antwerp, some of which involves the Russian-Israeli Mafia. Fox's close ties to the Likud Party of Israel and Israeli intelligence circles will also, undoubtedly, make his relationship with the CIA officers in Brussels even more testy.

The staggeringly large budget -- featuring a spending rate of $1.75 billion per day - seems to have too little room for maintaining vermin-free veterans' care facilities, or putting better armor on all humvees in Iraq. So a natural question is, "What is the Pentagon buying with its countless billions?" About half of the budget goes to maintain weapons systems and to pay personnel. A quarter goes to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Most of the remainder is spent on trying to figure out the kinds of weapons that will be needed in future wars and to develop them."

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/04/08/INGG3P14MF1.DTL

One major project that receives billions in support involves using force without killing: so-called "nonlethal weapons." These include a wide range of new devices mostly intended to achieve control over unruly crowds.

Added to the rubber bullets that have been around for a long time are rubber grenades. These were developed because crowds can set up mattress barricades to fend off rubber bullets and shotgun-fired bean bags. But a grenade can be tossed over the mattresses, shooting out hard little rubber balls in every direction when it explodes.

Another crowd-control device is known by the typically opaque Pentagon moniker "active denial." This is a system designed to use millimeter-length directed energy waves to overheat skin. The idea is that a crowd will quickly find that it literally cannot take the heat of a confrontation with our troops.

... Beyond rubber-pellet grenades and super-heating devices, there are weapons that shock with sound, some that temporarily blind, even sticky foams designed to freeze people in place."

They should've given you two weekend shows, like Laura Flanders has, Saturday and Sunday nights. I hope you at least get a 4 hr show on Sunday. I have to admit I did stop listening to you when you moved to mornings, because I was just never in the mood for a hard-hitting political show at that time of the day. They should've left you in the evenings, you were perfect for early evenings.

My guess, I think they might be taking a cue from Seder. I posted a one minute sound clip in the file section at MRR Pics at Yahoo Groups. Seder says "I don't want to have this blow up into some big show..." I remember he was outspoken about getting support late last summer when they were jerking him around about his contract and the move to better hours. He was outspoken about the rotten decision to can Malloy. He might've just had enough by now and decided to plan in different directions. That's my guess.

I've been meaning to drag out some Pixies ever since Senator Harris was on Friday. :)

Excellent question, young David, delighted you asked.

Your plaintive query, young man, is based upon an entirely false presumption.

Our target audience is not of this earth.

We speak to and for posterity.

And we speak for forbearing forbears' forbearance.

And for bears.

And for AARPeeps.

And for that ever-so-elusive ("but we know it's out there!") oxymoron: the politically-engaged Jerry Springer viewer.

That, kind sir, is the Holy Grail of liberal radio.

Look, Dog, I ain't got time for your jingo-was-her-name-o nor for your war porn.

I is got some trim awaiting my attention, so I must go (and oh how I wish I were speakin' metaphorically, but durned if I ain't bein' disappointing literal).

Will say this, tho':

Capitalism is a fine and wunnerful thing, imo, just so long's free-market fundamentalists (like yourself) ain't allowed to run things.

Otherwise, capitalism tends to eat its own, which is one of the very few things Karl Marx got right: capitalism, left to its own amoral self-seeking devices, is but one very large fish (or an oligarchic few) that's inexorably drawn to eat its own young.

Nature of the beast. It's why regulations and protections that free-market fundamentalists exist: so capitalism don't eat its own, so we might all enjoy its blessings.

Last time liberals saved this country from itself (and, specifically, from people like you), it were in busting up the trusts (etc., etc.) during the first Roosevelt admin.

Second time liberals saved this country from itself (and, specifically, from people like you), it were during the second Rooosevelt admin. w/the New Deal.

I will leave you w/this thought, for which I am intimating nothing about you personally, War Dog, just something to consider about how propagandists seldom is the ideal they breathlessly project.

The most historically famed simple-minded jingoist working to advance the unmixed blessings of capitalistic boosterism, Horatio Alger, was a notorious pedophile.

Ragged Dick is but one of many instructive lessons in the subtle art of appearance versus reality.

Plans for Bush library stir Texas-size tempest

By Mark Silva
Tribune national correspondent
Published April 8, 2007

DALLAS -- For Southern Methodist University, the alma mater of First Lady Laura Bush and a proud, nearly century-old institution, the prospect of housing the George W. Bush Presidential Library would seemingly be an honor.

Yet the possible advent of the Bush library -- and especially an ideological think tank planned as part of it -- has split the SMU faculty, feeding a debate that simmers beneath the serenity of the leafy campus. At an institution dedicated to scholarly achievement and academic freedom, many fear the work of the Bush Institute would forever associate SMU with a right-wing political agenda.

The vision of a Bush-backed think tank at a campus owned by the United Methodist Church has exposed emotional rifts within a church already divided over the war in Iraq. Bishops and other clergy critical of the pre-emptive war and the administration's treatment of enemy combatants are protesting what they view as a memorial to Bush, a Methodist whose policies they say are "antithetical" to their teachings.

Professor who criticized Bush added to terrorist 'no-fly' list Michael Roston
Published: Monday April 9, 2007

A top Constitutional scholar from Princeton who gave a televised speech that slammed President George W. Bush's executive overreach recently learned that he had been added to the Transportation Security Administration's terrorist watch list. He shared his experience this weekend at the law blog Balkinization.

Walter F. Murphy, the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence, Emeritus, at Princeton University, attempted to check his luggage at the curbside in Albuquerque before boarding a plane to Newark, New Jersey. Murphy was told he could not use the service.

"I was denied a boarding pass because I was on the Terrorist Watch list," he said.

When inquiring with a clerk why he was on the list, Murphy was asked if he had participated in any peace marches.

"We ban a lot of people from flying because of that," a clerk said.

Murphy then explained that he had not marched, but had "in September, 2006, given a lecture at Princeton, televised and put on the Web, highly critical of George Bush for his many violations of the Constitution."

The clerk responded, "That'll do it."

Murphy was allowed to board the plane, but warned that his luggage would be "ransacked." On his return trip, his luggage was also lost.

Murphy is a decorated Marine who served in the Korean War and was a reservist for 19 years. Mark Graber, who presented the blog post, adds that there were other reasons that Murphy was an unlikely terror suspect.

I can't believe I renewed my Premium subscription a week ago ... what a waste. And I've got the damned "Gold Superpass" thing, bought it when there was a solid lineup of Maron, Malloy, Seder.

I just cancelled it, I'm stuck with it for another year. I guess I'll download Thom Hartmann on occasion but that's so much like going to church ... on second thought, I probably won't. I've heard enough of the dry daily debates with the guy with a lisp from the "Ayn Rand Institute."

This is dreadful, jerking us around between XML and Sirius, then this cutting each decent program one by one. As a computer programmer I've had plenty of experience of being on board these failed endeavors that die when the business school types grab the helm and start jettisoning the crew.

I sincerely hope Seder and Maron can appear somewhere, anywhere on satellite radio. I've found that I listen to Maron's streaming rerun channel off and on, I miss the quality radio so much.

Maron bulk emails me on occasion, I hope Seder can do the same thing (since I signed up for his short-lived "newsletter", I hope he uses that for keeping me up to date).

Sam, I love your 9-12 show. Every day from 9-12 I perform tedious accounting duties. You and podcasting have helped make the job enjoyable. I will miss you, however, I think a Sunday show could be very successful. The Sunday TV shows need real-time rebuttal, you could offer that.

As a protestant husband of a Jewish wife, I truly appreciate your outing of Lieberman. You have helped us explain and realize the immense difference between Judaism (a peaceful religion) & Israeli nationalism (a deadly excuse for war and fear mongering).

I am a shareholder and subscriber to Sirius. I intend to write their program director and request they add you to their line-up. Not certain if I had any effect, but when Air America fired Mike Malloy, I wrote Sirius and 2 weeks later, he had a show.

If losing this gig bothers you (could be a blessing in disguise) I am sorry. Otherwise, you are obviously too bright to remain underemployed for long. Best wishes!

I sent this to comment@airamerica.com:

To Whom It May Concern:

I have been listening to Air America since its inception. I understand that you are a commercial entity and endeavor to turn a profit off your programming. I have never written to a media organization before, though I was tempted through my earlier frustrations with some of your program changes. This time I am driven not only by my personal interests with regard to your programming, but also because I think you are making a ridiculous business decision as well. Sam Seder is the only host you currently air with a proclivity for seasoning intelligent political commentary with humor. He is the closest thing you have to replace Al Franken. While I enjoy Thom Hartmann’s program, he appeals to the academic side of my interests which we all know is (unfortunately) a tiny demographic. Sam Seder is the only host you have that can articulate the conceptual acuity that Thom Hartmann represents with the broad appeal that Al Franken brought. Unless you have some incredibly dynamic, engaging, personalities in the wings to replace half of your programming, I fear you will continue to fail to reach the ratings numbers you seek. In my opinion, you should be promoting Seder, not demoting him.

been listening to you from the beginning - i can't believe this. your shows are always educational, entertaining and insightful. i really don't understand AAR anymore. i know it is important for progressive radio to survive and succeed, but continuously removing the most talented hosts (maron, malloy and now sam) seems like a good way to lose the already dedicated, albeit small, fan base. i'm gonna go cry now.

Salon.com has uncovered further evidence that the military, in a desperate effort to fill its ranks for President Bush’s escalation, “sent soldiers with acute post-traumatic stress disorder, severe back injuries and other serious war wounds back to Iraq.”

I guess 1 of the irrelevant people at jones network might join. I really have the feeling that Sam's impending firing has to do with Ed Schultz and pissing off a few big money DLC democrats. When are these loosers going to realize that their so called strategy will never work? Or are these people 5th column republicans trying to destroy us? I think the second...

Sorry to hear it Sam. I've enjoyed it and youve become a real radio personality.

Damn, now the only thing left on AAR that I want to listen occasionally to is Maddow. When's she going to be axed for a soporific?

What are they going to put on here at 9 am?

John Elliot?
I cannot listen to that guy... so annoying.

Lose Sam at all of our peril.
(except for the closet door slur, I'm all for Sam)

Why is Air America shooting itself in the foot again. Sam Seder has hosted a great show, and I look forward to streaming him every day.

They held on to Jerry Springer for more than a year when I found him most of the time to be boring. Can't they give Sam a little more time?

I am sad & confused...What is going on? What are the Greens doing? Whatever it is, I don't feel good about this sudden change in programing...The present line up is dynamite...Young Turks in the early morning, then Seder, Then Thom & Randi...What's better than that? I work from home & stream you guys all day...

I shouted, "Hallalujah", when I first heard the Greens were bailing AAR out...If this is their idea of making the station better, well it's distressing.

I am very sad that Air-America is removing my Favorite Show Sam Seder to only once a week. That was a VERY BAD DECISION MADE BY AIR-AMERICA!!! I LOVE SAM SEDER!!!I AM VERY OFFENDED BY YOUR DECISION AIR AMERICA!!!

Anonymous said...

SAM,
I have been a loyal fan of you and AAR from the early days. You have all of my support in your new position at the network. I have one simple question though....WHAT THE HELL IS GREEN/AAR THINKING?!! Malloy/Maron/Seder all gone?! So, all the most liberal voices on the network have been eliminated. And by "different direction" you mean that AAR will now buy programing 'off-the-rack' that is not as threatening to the Corporate Sponser Cabal, right? First, XM won't put Hartmann on, then AAR gets rid of SEDER...what's next?
There is no reason for me to maintain my XM subscription after this week or my AAR Premium Service. Green has successfully killed the last reason for me to listen on anything other than the Ring of Fire stream. I suppose that they are next for the axe...
It's a sad day, come Friday.

I need to hear you every day. This situation is not acceptable. Please get a job... same hours, different radio station. I'll follow you anywhere!

First, "Morning Sedition" was untimely cancelled. Then "The Majority Report" was 86'ed. Now comes the disheartening news that "The Sam Seder Show" will be no more. Sam, there aren't enough words to convey just how amazing you've been. These days, your show is the only one on AAR I listen to with any consistency and has been for a very long time. Good luck with "Seder On Sundays" and I wish you much well-deserved success with the new show and any and all future endeavors. Wherever you go, we will follow! :)

Comments at AAR don't seem to be reaching anyone. Does anyone have email for Green directly, or for his brother's real estate company?

Sam,

You are the best! I don't why the Green Bro's are moving you to Sunday. I would think at least Mark, would be into your approach, but maybe even if that's the case, it's not as simple as that.

Anyway, good luck on Sunday, and we look forward to keep listening to you!

I don't know what I am going to do without Sam. Even my 85 year old mother loves you!!!!

I'm a steady Air America listener, and it pains me to admit that the one consistent thread in programming has been the cluelessness of every management team. Ave atque vale, Sam! (And I'll throw in a gratuitous slam at the Portland affiliate KPOJ, which carries the annoying Ed Schultz live while putting Randi on delay...)

I already sent my emails to AAR.

I hafta say, I'm a bit surprised nobody in AAR mgmt has seemed to grasp the notion that they have something no one else on radio is doing as well as AAR - that is HUMOUR - LIBERAL POLITICAL HUMOUR, to be precise.NOBODY on radio is doing anything as smart, hip & FUNNY as the AAR pros they keep sidelining.

TV has The Daily Show crew & Colbert - but who else on radio is doing real liberal satire in such quantity & quality?

But who's gonna listen to me?I'm just a nobody..... = (

Oh hey - who was watching 60 minutes on Easter Sunday anyway? We were busy having a family Easter dinner.TV was on in another room, but sound was off & nobody was watching.....

I really don’t know how I am going to break this to Dewey.

How about with a crowbar?

Already sent my 'i8u, mark green' e-mail.

I am SO gonna miss THIS show.

“Army prosecutions of desertion and other unauthorized absences have risen sharply in the last four years,” as negative discharges and prison time are being used “to serve as a deterrent to a growing number of soldiers who are ambivalent about heading — or heading back — to Iraq and may be looking for a way out.”

The Sam Seder Show is the best show Air America has. What "new direction"? More Army and Sammie???

Anonymous said...

Sam, WHAT are they thinking? YOU are my morning! I can guarantee you that I will be listening to AAR less when you switch to Sunday. All these programming changes are losing them listeners. Why don't they ditch the Young Turks? They suck! Nice that we can contact AAR (not) and express our opinions. Maybe its just time for me to move on!

Why doesn't Mark Green just show us all who he really is and put rush limpbaugh or bill o'rielly on in sam's place. At least we would know he was being honest with us.

This is crap. How is AAR supposed to build a loyal base when they keep changing the morning talent. Don't they realize that it takes time to build a morning audience. Sunday is not enough. Sam cut that hair, take a shave and get on the Jon Stewart Show. I'm pissed. P.S. What is going to happen to that hot sounding chick with the cool personality who does your phones?

WE NEED YOU MORE THAN EVER WITH THE ELECTIONS OF 2008 COMING UP. BY THE WAY DID YOUR DEPARTURE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT THAT CREEP ARMSTRONG WILLIAMS THE TIME THEY REMOVED YOU FOR TWO OR MORE DAYS? GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND I'LL BE LOOKING FOR YOU ON THE RADIO..TY SAM...PHIL WARD

honestly i was often worried mike malloy would climb through my speakers and beat me up... i'd really prefer sam. that one bit about the prisoner who had "won" scooter libby in a free-for-all was so funny i was literally in stiches: hit a telephone pole i was laughing so hard. my bet's that sam's not going too far... maybe taking over imus's slot?
