Friday: The Casualest Casual Friday Ever
Sam's so casual today, he's strapping a heart monitor to himself to prove that even his heart rate is slowing down. I is caught a fair number a sharks in my day. Blue sharks offa Gloucester, Mass. up to 5 hunnerd pounds. Yer garden-variety lemons and blacktips down in Floridy, generly in the hunnerd-pound range, but sometimes upwards of a buck-fifty.
I is had two precarious pas-de-deuxs w/sharks whilst wade-fishin', once offa No Name Key (Lower Keys) whilst barracuda fishin' (ciguetera poisonin': it's not just for dinner nomores) and another on the south shore of Boca Grande Pass whilst trailin' a lone redfish.
Lemon sharks to 80 pounds in crotch-deep water in the first instance (three lemons lightnin'-fast came outta nowheres whilst I -- stupidly -- hadda whole stringer a barras a long lonesome distance a two football fields away from shore; them lemons attacked them barras w/a ferocity that hadda be seen to be believed) 'n hadda hunnerd 'n twenty pound bull shark swoop in like a barn owl after a mouse 'n scare the wits outta me inna near-shore trench in waist-deep water.
In a manner a speakin', I is clumsily jumped the shark.
I is also been looking for a kayak here recent to complement my fishin' outta canoes. Then I seen this pitcher 'n went "Whoa."

Rose allus usedta have a fascination w/sharks. Had (no doubt silly, but recurrent; the heart has reasons the mind knows nothing of) dreams she'd be killt by sharks. Sharks is always been one a them totemic critters for me.

Truth be tolt, I think I'ma fucked up wreck on account of my father-in-law wants to go to Rose's death site. I know where it is. I been there. It's purt-near the only goddamn hardwood tree in alla Florida that could killt her (saw palmetto ever'wheres; well, if a body b'lieved in fate, which I don't, then I guess he'd reckon it were her time).

OK WTF is going on now with Air America? Am I to understand that the best show that they have going in the Air America line up is about to be taken off the air?!!!

Maybe some of my resourceful diarists can flesh this "rumor" out but the word is that AAR is going to end the daily Sam Seder show and instead have offered him a slot on weekends. Wich means they continue to have no fucking clue what good radio is. Who even listens on the weekends? Sad but true I know these guys have an audience out there but they keep shitting on us.
When the Green's bought the network none of the on air talent seemed to have any good feelings about the transition and this just shows the reason why. I cannot understand the business strategy of this company. Maybe Sammy has a little AIPAC problem, who knows? Broadcast radio has him stifled, he needs to be dropping the F-bomb on satellite anyway.

Thanks to this blog for giving me the straight scoop on Sam. There's a thread on the TruthDig.com site about the Greens' takeover of AAR, and that's where I first heard mention of Sammy's demise. Couldn't believe it at first; thought they were just talking about how he got moved off evenings and onto the morning slot, and then I heard Mike Malloy confirm it on his Friday show. I appreciate getting the truth here.
My wife and I signed up as AAR premium members in 2006 so we could download podcasts here in Australia. (We're some of the few liberals who actually left the country because of Bush. And you know what, mates? It's BETTER here!) Then they shit-canned Malloy, and now it's Sam. Randi Rhodes will be next, I suppose. She and Sam were the only programmes we absolutely HAD to listen to every day. Thom Hartmann and John Elliot are OK, but bland compared to the stinging zing of Sam and Randi.
Ah well, I hope it turns out well for Sammy and those of you on this blog. I don't give a rat's arse if AAR goes under, now. We renewed our premium membership at the beginning of this month, but we wouldn't have if we had known Sam was going down. We're also paid-up members of Nova-M, so perhaps that will thrive. My wish is that Seder, and Randi too if they kill her, will get a berth there.
