Fans of the Majority Report will remember that Carmine, Janeane's Dad, was a Buckley conservative... I wonder if he's also abandoning the GOP.

"A genuine political sea change?"

Excerpts:

"But the truth can only be concealed for so long, and sooner or later, it is going to be absolutely clear just how corrupt and radical the dominant political force governing the Bush administration really has been."

------------

"This is the sea change America needs so profoundly, and there are many signs that it is emerging and growing in strength. The 2006 election -- a truly crushing defeat for the President's political movement -- was but a glimpse of it, and the amount of wrongdoing and sleaze that has been revealed in just three months of real Congressional oversight is but a small sampling of what is to come.

Most of what has occurred in this country under the Bush presidency has been effectively concealed -- mostly due to a broken, corrupt media and a malfeasant Congress -- but all of it is beginning to emerge, and the consequences will likely be as extreme as the corruption and deceit itself have been."

Cast your vote and send your message to Congress at the same time!

As courageously drafted by Dennis Kucinich in H.Res. 333 filed just last week, the first and most central ground stated for the impeachment of Vice President Cheney was that he led the charge in fabricating a case for invasion of Iraq, based on phony weapons of mass destruction. Now almost as if it were timed to coincide with that initiative, former CIA head George Tenet reveals they knew their evidence was flimsy, erroneous and just plain bogus all along, but that Cheney just kept exaggerating the threat anyway. This is without question the most momentous issue of our time, and whether you agree that Cheney should be impeached, or not, your voice is needed to speak out now, and tell Congress what they should do about it.

You can vote yes. Or you can vote no. But we cannot remain silent.

THE END OF INTERNET RADIO?

The SaveNetRadio Coalition

The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. Internet radio needs your help!

H.R. 2060, The Internet Radio Equality Act was introduced by Representatives Jay Inslee (D-WA) and Donald Manzullo (R-IL ) to save the Internet radio industry.

Please call your congressperson to ask them to co-sponsor H.R. 2060 by clicking below.

Take action:

http://www.savenetradio.org/

__________________

U.S. Reps. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) and Don Manzullo (R-Ill.) filed legislation that would reverse a recent decision of the federal Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) to at least triple the amount of royalties Internet radio broadcasters pay to copyright holders for playing a song.

The Inslee-Manzullo Internet Radio Equality Act, H.R. 2060, would provide royalty parity for Internet radio providers.

It would vacate the CRB’s March 2 decision and apply the same royalty rate-setting standard to commercial Internet radio, as well as satellite radio, cable radio and jukeboxes. A transition rate of 7.5 percent of revenue would be set through 2010.

More information on the proposed legislation:

Bush Donors Defect To Obama, Clinton
NY Sun | JOSH GERSTEIN | April 30, 2007 08:52 AM

As senators Clinton and Obama crisscross the country seeking the Democratic presidential nomination and sharply criticizing President Bush, they have been collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars from donors who funded one or both of Mr. Bush's campaigns for the White House.

In the first quarter of this year, more than 150 former Bush donors pitched in for Mrs. Clinton's campaign, while a similar number anted up for Mr. Obama, according to an analysis of Federal Election Commission data performed for The New York Sun by the Washington-based Center for Responsive Politics.

Cho Seung-Hui: A Disturbed Revolutionary?

(Excerpt)

Cho was a disturbed person, but it's clear that conditions in society were playing on his mind.
He felt many resentments that are justifiable. He was mentally unbalanced, but there was a connection between societal structures and what he did.
----------------------------

The resentments are real. Huge social divisions exist on a college campus. Snobbery and elitism exist.
With Cho, the resentments were psychotically internalized and developed in a pathological manner.

The society denies that social classes exists, it papers over social inequality. The contradictions emerge in a malignant fashion, they explode in this anti-social form This is the ongoing price American society
pays for the absence of a progressive and revolutionary social movement that offers a way out of the present impasse, for the lack of class consciousness and social solidarity.

The Virginia Tech tragedy, which led to the brutal deaths of 33 people, is an event that needs to be considered soberly and at length. But even before funerals have taken place and the dead properly memorialized, government and university officials are urging students, faculty and the population at large to “move on.”

Some of this is all too typically American and pragmatic, but much of it is distinctly self-serving.

Those at the top of society are instinctively hostile to any in-depth examination of why this terrible incident took place. The same politicians and editorialists who insist that “how we got into Iraq is not the issue any more, but only how America can be successful now we’re there” are also opposed to dwelling on the roots of the Blacksburg, Virginia, mass murder.

For a simple reason: American society is responsible for those deaths. The appeals to “move on” from officials combine callousness and stupidity. This has become a terrible cliché, repeated again and again, and directed against critical thought and feeling.
"No, people should not “move on.”
‘Enough, back to business!’ Here is the backwardness and indifference of the entire social superstructure, which cannot and will not look the reality it has created in the face.

It is part of the ongoing refusal to analyze or understand. The attempt to transform every mass gathering at the Virginia Tech campus into a “pep rally” has something perverse and unseemly about it.

“Normalcy never comes back,” nor should it. Everyone in America and around the world knows this is not the last such atrocity. This could happen in any part of the country, it is a matter of the nation’s social pathology.

The coarsest and most ignorant response, not unexpectedly, comes from the editors of the Wall Street Journal, mouthpiece for the speculators and swindlers who have looted trillions from the US and world economy.

Inhofe: Media invented WMD excuse for Iraq invasion. Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) on Friday:

Inhofe, speaking to the press before Cheney’s arrival, lambasted Democrats for Thursday’s Senate vote to begin withdrawal from Iraq by Oct. 1 and the press for “mischaracterizing” the reasons for U.S. involvement.

“The whole idea of weapons of mass destruction was never the issue, yet they keep trying to bring this up,” Inhofe said. […]

Pressed for an explanation, Inhofe said weapons of mass destruction were “incidental” to the decision to invade Iraq.

“The media made that the issue because they knew Saddam Hussein had used weapons of mass destruction.”

Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) in August 2002:

Our intelligence system has said that we know that Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction — I believe including nuclear. There’s not one person on this panel who would tell you unequivocally that he doesn’t have the missile means now, or is nearly getting the missile means to deliver a weapon of mass destruction. And I for one am not willing to wait for that to happen.

Historic Items Damaged, Destroyed In Georgetown Fire
Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Blaze At Library

POSTED: 12:59 pm EDT April 30, 2007
UPDATED: 11:09 pm EDT April 30, 2007

WASHINGTON -- Some historical items were damaged and others were destroyed in a fire at the Georgetown branch of the D.C. Public Library on Monday afternoon, News4's Darcy Spencer reported.

The D.C. Fire Department battled the two-alarm blaze at the building in the 3600 block of R Street in northwest D.C. Spencer reported that firefighters tried to save paintings and historic items from the building, which was virtually destroyed.

Fire department spokesman Alan Etter said the building's entire roof was on fire and parts of the structure was collapsing. There were no reports of injuries.

Fire officials said firefighters had water pressure and water supply problems and one fire hydrant did not work, Spencer reported. They were able to extinguish the fire.

"Any time there's not sufficient water pressure it is a negative impact for sure," said D.C. Fire Chief Dennis Rubin. "To what degree we're not certain yet, but more water pressure would have been helpful."

The building was under renovation. The cause of the fire is unknown, but fire officials said it may have started on the roof or in the attic.

The Georgetown branch was opened in 1935. Its Peabody Room contains a special collection of items pertaining to the history of Georgetown. The fire chief told Spencer that they were aware of the location of the room and were trying their best to prevent fire and water damage.

Officials are trying to salvage what they can from the Peabody Room.

The fire was Monday's second at a historic building. Eastern Market on Capitol Hill suffered major damage in an early morning fire.

History of Disbelief Hits National Television

For Immediate Release

Contact: Roy Speckhardt (202) 238-9088 or (703) 314-7008

rspeckhardt@americanhumanist.org - www.americanhumanist.org

( Washington , DC , April 26, 2007) To kick off the U.S. premier of a groundbreaking three-part television documentary, "A Brief History of Disbelief," its host Jonathan Miller will appear on the "Bill Moyers

Journal" May 4 at 9 p.m. The unprecedented documentary, co-sponsored by the American Humanist Association, will premier on public television stations in
some markets that same day and in others over the following weeks.

The American Humanist Association applauds the programming decision that made this possible. The documentary, which was written by Miller, is the first-ever historical account of nontheism on television. It outlines nontheistic and humanist views from the first religious skeptics in ancient Greece through the influence of disbelief in the founding of the United
States to the role of humanism in public life today.

(A promo of "A Brief History of Disbelief" can be found at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc2n4r-0sLU.)

"This compelling documentary series fills an important gap in the public's understanding of the long and complex history of nontheism," said Roy Speckhardt, executive director of the American Humanist Association. "This
series dispels the common misperception that nonbelief is a modern invention. In fact, it's as old as civilization itself."

Said Fred Edwords, director of communications for the American Humanist Association: "'A Brief History of Disbelief' shows an important change in attitude about nontheism. People are starting to realize what Humanists have
always known: that lack of a god belief doesn't mean the lack of morality.

As a result of this, nontheism is beginning to gain acceptance in the public square. One needs only look at the warm reception of Representative Pete Stark's announcement that he is a nontheist, or the fact that recent atheist books by Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, and Daniel Dennett have made it to
best-seller status. Attitudes are clearly changing as people are persuaded by Humanist ideals."

The series will feature interviews with leading authorities, such as Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, the late Arthur Miller, and Steven Weinberg. Part I of the series, titled "Shadows of Doubt," considers the religious
implications of 9/11 and examines theories of the psychology of religious belief. In Part II, "Noughts and Crosses," Miller considers the re-emergence
of disbelief in the Renaissance and Enlightenment as well as the perils of challenging religious faith. "The Final Hour" illuminates the theories and
philosophies of influential thinkers like Thomas Paine, Charles Darwin, and Sigmund Freud, as well as their impact on the way we see religion today.

Funding for the U.S. premier of "A Brief History of Disbelief" is provided by the American Humanist Association, American Ethical Union , Center for Inquiry, HKH Foundation, and Institute for Humanist Studies. The program
originally aired on the BBC in the United Kingdom .

A)Clear your mind of any facts

Honestly, Hitchens makes things up based on facts he himself established. I tried one time to read him. Its like reading Science Fiction. He makes up this whole world of people and plots and on and on, and people belive it. He even believes it. Just sad.

Blah 3, did you know that the Turkish crisis is triggering a rally in Treasuries?

Global Overview: Turkish crisis, slowing US economy trigger rally in Treasuries By Tony Tassell, Joanna Chung in London and Michael Mackenzie in New York
Mon Apr 30, 3:30 PM ET

Turkish assets suffered a sharp sell-off on Monday, triggered by the country's political crisis.

The turmoil came as global markets focused on the release of more evidence of a slowing US economy in the form of weaker-than-expected data on personal spending and Chicago-area manufacturing. This triggered a sharp rally in US Treasury bonds, put US equities on the defensive and trimmed an early rally in the dollar.

But the biggest movers of the day were Turkish markets after a threat by the military to block the government's presidential candidate, Abdullah Gul, raised uncertainty over the political outlook.

The benchmark 100-share index fell as much as 8 per cent although losses were later pared to 4 per cent.

Similarly, the Turkish lira tumbled 4.4 per cent to a low of TL1.3930 against the dollar. However, it ralled to TL1.3650, reducing session losses to 2.3 per cent. The currency is still up about 3 per cent against the dollar this year.

Turkish bonds also suffered, with yields on benchmark paper maturing in February 2009 rising 86 basis points to 19.25 per cent.

The country's credit spread over US Treasuries, a sub-index of JPMorgan's EMBIG index and one market barometer of sentiment, was 15 basis point wider at 209bp over US Treasuries in late trading on Monday.

Happy Law Day. The New York Times notes that today, May 1, is Law Day.

In keeping with tradition, President Bush has issued a proclamation inviting Americans today to “celebrate the Constitution and the laws that protect our rights and liberties.” It rings more than a little hollow, though, as he continues to trample on civil liberties in the war on terror, and stands by an attorney general who has politicized the Justice Department to a shocking degree.

The less committed a president is to the law, the more need there is for Law Day, which makes it a holiday whose time has come.

Happy May Day

Mmmmm, melamine chicken!
by Chris in Paris · 5/01/2007 04:00:00 AM ET

Nobody delivers melamine chicken like the glorious FDA. Once again proving the value of "self regulation" that has been a cornerstone of GOP politics.

The U.S. government said on Monday 38 poultry farms in Indiana were given contaminated feed containing melamine in early February, with some of the animals likely to have entered the food supply.
Since they say it's a "low risk" for humans, let's see the leaders of the FDA eat that tainted glop and then tell us about their own guinea pig experience. Let them eat three eyed fish.

Former CIA chief Tenet: Bush Iraq policy is "a slow motion car crash"
by John Aravosis (DC) · 4/30/2007 05:42:00 PM ET

Former Bush CIA chief George Tenet - the guy who Bush gave a medal to - blasts Bush and the entire Iraq reconstruction effort in TIME:
What Iraq needed were Arabists and Foreign Service officers who understood the country's tribal allegiances, or who at least knew a Sunni from a Shia. What CPA seemed to be getting were people anxious to set up a Baghdad stock exchange, try out a flat-tax system, and impose other elements of a lab-school democratic- capitalist social structure. One of my officers returned from a trip to Iraq a month or two after CPA had taken over and told me, "Boss, that place runs like a graduate school seminar, none of them speaks Arabic, almost nobody's ever been to an Arab country, and no one makes a decision but Bremer."
On the Bush administration's decision to de-Baathify the Iraqi government by firing everyone who was a member of the Ba'ath party:
We soon began hearing stories about how Iraqis could not send their kids to school because all the teachers had been dismissed for being members of the Ba'ath Party. In the context of a country armed to the teeth, this was not a good thing. If the kids and teachers were not in school, they were on the streets. I went to see Condi Rice and complained that the indiscriminate nature of the de-Ba'athification order had swept away not just Saddam's thugs but also, for example, something like forty thousand schoolteachers, who had joined the Ba'ath Party simply to keep their jobs. This order wasn't protecting Iraqis; it was destroying what little institutional foundations were left in the country. The net effect was to persuade many ex-Ba'athists to join the insurgency. Condi said she was very frustrated by the situation, but nothing ever happened. Several months later, with a full-blown insurgency under way, an interagency group headed by Deputy National Security Advisor Bob Blackwill desperately looked for ways to reach out to dissident Sunni Arabs. We again raised the subject of rolling back the de-Ba'athification order. Doug Feith retorted that doing so would "undermine the entire moral justification for the war."....

On one of his trips to Iraq, [Deputy Defense Secretary] Paul Wolfowitz told our senior man there, "You don't understand the policy of the U.S. government, and if you don't understand the policy, you are hardly in a position to collect the intelligence to help that policy succeed." It was an arrogant statement that masked a larger reality. In many cases we were not aware of what our own government was trying to do. The one thing we were certain of was that our warnings were falling on deaf ears.
It's Condi's fault:
Without using her name, Tenet alleges that then-National Security Adviser Condi Rice did not exert the kind of scrutiny of Rumsfeld's and Cheney's ideas as she did of the CIA and the State Department. Tenet says the lack of clear White House oversight of reconstruction efforts in Iraq meant US policy was "almost guaranteed" to fail...

Whenever you decide to take the country to war, you have to know not only that you can defeat the enemy militarily but that you have a very clear game plan that will allow you to keep the peace. There was never any doubt that we would defeat the Iraqi military. What we did not have was an integrated and open process in Washington that was organized to keep the peace, nor did we have unity of purpose and resources on the ground. Quite simply, the NSC did not do its job.
The NSC was headed by Condi.

Fire guts 2 historic sites in D.C. By LUBNA TAKRURI, Associated Press Writer
Tue May 1, 3:39 AM ET

Two fires ravaged historic sites in the nation's capital Monday, one gutting part of the 134-year-old Eastern Market and the other destroying irreplaceable documents and art at the Georgetown public library branch.

Fire Chief Dennis L. Rubin said there was absolutely no suspicion that the fires were related.

The first blaze tore through the southern half of the Eastern Market, a Capitol Hill landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city-owned building was empty at the time and there were no injuries, Rubin said.

Hours later, a blaze rushed through the D.C. Public Library's Georgetown branch. The building, in the Georgetown National Register Historic District, was undergoing renovations. There were no injuries.

Many library employees cried at the sight of the flames, including Jerry McCoy, the archivist who oversees the Peabody collection of artifacts. "This is stuff nobody else has, not even the Library of Congress," McCoy said, weeping with his head against a tree.

"I've always feared this was going to happen. This is my worst nightmare come true," he said, lamenting the lack of fire sprinklers or a fire alarm.

McCoy, who was not in the building, said he always imagined what he'd grab first if a fire broke out. Fortunately, firefighters grabbed that item, a painting by Yaro Mamout that had twice been borrowed by the Smithsonian Institution. It came out looking slightly lighter from water exposure, but salvageable.

Firefighters brought out one piece of art after another and laid them out on the sidewalk.

McCoy said none of the material was on microfiche or made into digital copies. "It's absolutely irreplaceable," he said.

Investigators had not determined the cause of the fire or come up with a damage estimate shortly after the fire was doused Monday evening, said fire department spokesman Alan Etter. Library officials were still sorting through the contents late Monday to determine what could be saved.

It seems as though the best liar becomes the President of the United States.

Certainly George Bush ranks among the top liars of all time but you have to admit that he had ample assistance from Karl (Beanie Boy) Rove and Richard (Dick) Cheney.

Last night the Democrats had their first debate and Hillary Clinton took Barack Obama like a chicken by the throat and squeezed the puss out of him. The writing is on the wall and Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee for President in 2008. Hillary Clinton began campaigning for President in her mother’s womb.

Bill Clinton is a superb liar and manipulator. Had his DNA not been on Monica Lewinsy’s dress he would have had us all believing that he never knew her.

Even with the DNA he is now sliding right back into the most powerful office on earth. Most politicians find it important to win over the independent voters, the middle. Bill Clinton has gone one better.

He has spent so much time in the past few years working on the Tsunami and Katrina with President George Bush Sr. that most Republicans now think that Bill and Hillary Clinton are Republicans.

Recently on Larry King Live Bill Clinton said that Hillary had decided to give posts in her new administration to President George Bush Sr. and Junior. The Democratic Congress is such a transparent joke that they make Siegfried and Roy look tame. The Democratic caucus is laughing their heads off with one symbolic vote after another. If they sincerely wanted to leave Iraq they would simply cut off the funding.

Correcting a George Tenet Memory Lapse
by Larry Johnson
Tue May 1st, 2007 at 03:02:48 AM EST

[Note from Larry C Johnson: I received the following tonight from Tyler Drumheller, a recently retired CIA officer. His book, On the Brink, is an important contribution to the history of our misguided war in Iraq. Tyler has first hand knowledge of George Tenet's self-delusion and dissembling about his role in helping lead the march to war. It provides an important correction to the spin of George Tenet.]

Correcting the Record
by Tyler Drumheller
As people read through George Tenet's "At the Center of the Storm" I hope the basic errors and misstatements of fact do not detract from the most important point, that the Bush administration came into office with the idea of attacking Iraq and they proceeded to misuse and manipulate intelligence to support their preconceived views, both before and after 9/11.

The problem for George is that he was not a peripheral player, he was"at the center of the storm" but apparently stood by as the Vice President, Secretary of Defense and others led the country into an ill conceived, ill planned war of choice. He was, after all DCI and as such had the responsibility for how intelligence was being used. I will not pretend to understand why he stood by when he knew what was at stake and had his own questions about the entire affair. In the end, although he served in many senior staff jobs, he was ill prepared to deal with the great crisis of his professional career. Taking lines out of individual presidential speeches and stopping one of many questionable speeches by the Vice President, simply does cut it when balanced against standing by as the country moved toward war.

Through his actions and inaction, George allowed the administratioen to pick and chose intelligence to fit their views, and to make matters worse he and his deputy, John Mclaughlin, were aware of the fact that key pieces of intelligence were flawed and should not be used in the decision making process. This includes not only the now infamous Curveball case, but other pieces of intelligence that are still classified and can not be openly discussed. As you have said, Larry, the standard for reporting to support the administration position was extremely low, while anything questioning the administration poistion was held to an extremely high standard of proof.

Time Is Up On Rice’s ‘Two To Three Month’ Window For Escalation »
On Jan. 11, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the Bush administration would not “stay married” to its Baghdad security plan if the Iraqis do “not [live] up to their part of the obligation”:

SEC. RICE: I will tell you this, the benchmark that I’m looking at — the oil law is important, the political process is extraordinary important — that the most important thing that the Iraqi government has to do right now is to reestablish the confidence of its population that it’s going to be even-handed in defending it. That’s what we need to see over the next two or three months, and I think that over the next several months they’re going to have to show that.

SEN. OBAMA: Or else what? Mr. Chairman –

SEC. RICE: Or this plan — or this plan is not — this plan is not going to work.

Those two to three months are up, and recent troubling reports indicate that Maliki’s office has not been “even-handed” in defending the Iraqi population and has actually increased sectarian tensions:

– “A department of the Iraqi prime minister’s office is playing a leading role in the arrest and removal of senior Iraqi army and national police officers, some of whom had apparently worked too aggressively to combat violent Shiite militias.”

– According to a recent poll, Maliki inspires confidence in 72 percent of Shiites, but just eight percent of Sunnis.

– “The UN has sharply criticised the Iraqi government’s human rights record, in the two months since a security plan was launched in the capital, Baghdad. The UN mission for Iraq said Iraqi authorities had failed to guarantee the basic rights of about 3,000 people they had detained in the operations.”

– In its April 26 Iraq Index, the Brookings Institution found “no progress thus far” on four of Rice’s benchmarks: establishing new election laws, scheduling provincial elections, disbanding militias, or putting together a plan for national reconciliation.

Even though the Iraqi government has been largely unsuccessful in meeting its political benchmarks, the Bush administration refuses to change its plan in Iraq. Yesterday on CBS’s Face the Nation, Rice said that the administration opposes imposing any “so-called consequences” on Maliki’s government “for missing the benchmarks,” and plans to veto any bill that does so.

Bush expects incompetence because he's incompetent. He needs to be ousted! Now!!!

Iran Tops State Department List of State Sponsors of Terrorism

Tuesday, May 01, 2007

WASHINGTON — Although the designation is not new, the release of the department's annual global survey of terrorism comes at a delicate moment — just days ahead of a possible meeting between Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Iran's top diplomat.

Rice could meet Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki when they both attend a weekend conference of Iraq's neighbors aimed at boosting stability in a nation where the report says terrorist attacks, some backed by Iran, killed more than 13,000 civilians in 2006.

"Should the foreign minister of Iran bump into Condi Rice, Condi won't be rude," President Bush said Monday. "She's not a rude person. I'm sure she'll be polite."

Such a meeting on the sidelines of the conference in Egypt would be the highest-level contact between Iran and the United States since 2004.

Another top Rice aide quits
Published: Monday April 30, 2007

A top human rights adviser to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced his resignation Monday, the latest in a string of senior State Department officials to quit as the administration of President George W. Bush winds to a close.

Barry Lowenkron, assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights and labor, will leave within weeks to become a vice president with the MacArthur Foundation, a private grant-making enterprise, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.

The departure of Lowenkron, who notably oversaw the State Department's annual human rights report, was announced just three days after the surprise resignation of one of Rice's two deputies, foreign aid director Randall Tobias.

Tobias quit on Friday after being named in the media as a client of a Washington DC call-girl ring.

Rice has lost a string of senior aides in recent months, beginning with her former top deputy, Robert Zoellick, who left last year to work for a Wall Street investment bank.

Her counselor, Philip Zelikow, resigned in January to return to teaching and the State Department's planning director, Stephen Krasner, quit in March.

The State Department's two highest profile hawks, former UN ambassador John Bolton and non-proliferation chief Bob Joseph, also left earlier this year and have since sniped at Rice's willingness to negotiate a disarmament deal with North Korea.

A senior State Department official indicated that the spate of resignations could continue as Bush nears the end of his mandate in January 2009.

"It's only natural as you get towards the end of the second term that people are going to be moving on," he said. "The secretary understands."

Looking back, Arngrim's grateful that as a child she could use her nasty Nellie character to vent her smoldering rage in a healthy way.

When Arngrim went on Larry King Live in 2004, she bravely told her truth to the world - something not everyone in her life knew about. But first she sent an email to her friends and family to give them a heads up.

"I said, 'This is what I'm going to talk about, but don't cry for me, Argentina.'" She didn't want pity - she wanted tougher laws on pedophiles, and she's getting them. She's left the prairie and now hits the Hill as the California chair for the National Association to Protect Children, or PROTECT. In all probability, Britain could have a Scottish prime minister in a few weeks' time, Tony Blair said today in a speech to mark his 10th anniversary in the top job.
Mr Blair, who was campaigning for the Scottish parliamentary elections in Edinburgh, told party supporters: "Within the next few weeks, I won't be prime minister of this country.

"In all probability, a Scot will become prime minister of the United Kingdom."
