Friday: The Last Casual Friday
Stay tuned for a blog message directly from Sam after the show, but in the mean time, this will have to suffice. We're going out with a bang today, as we welcome friends of the show all day long. We'll have Marc Maron and Joe Conason, plus a helping of surprise callers and wellwishers. And most importantly, we're welcoming YOU. So give us a call, at 866-303-2270. It's Casual Friday!

Very soon, this day will be but a sweet memory, as it will have been your stepping stone to bigger and better things. We just don't know what that is yet. Trust me.
You was robbed, sir. And so were we.
I'm mad and I can't take it anymore! Urgh!! :(((
Peaches.
Happy Trails, Seder.
[sigh]
Thank you so much, Sam, for your eloquent final statement about the tragic event that happened on Dec. 12, 2000! Yes, 9/11 pales in significance to that injustice. I have listened to you since day 1. Good luck on Sunday. I'll be streaming your new show as I have since we don't have an AAR in my area. Great job, Sam. And thanks go to Janeane too. Lefty1

Sam, you rock!
I'll miss your morning show, but I will be catching you on the weekend!
Mazel tov! Sammy. Best wishes for a successful life to you!
Damn it. Miss Sam already.
Haven't had a chance to listen to Lionel yet, but if his schtick is being an edgy, angry, straight talker who doesn't care what anyone thinks, as it would appear, then I'm not going to listen. Either way, he'll have a tough row to hoe.
The Greens' may have made a bad investment for themselves, as their audience may be heading out the door.
sorry, sammy
i missed that last part
i was being attacked by a werewolf

Many blessings, and much success and happiness to you, SEDER.
See ya round the bend.
Sm we will miss you. We love to see you Sam, hopefully the love people have shown will give you an incentive to get ur work out there more. we would love to see Bad Situationist released. hear some of your stand up. releasing ur sitcoms and pilots etc... even just for download. oh wait maybe not- u should try to earn some money out of it.

I'm near speechless with admiration.
Thanks Sam!
AAR's loss as well as ours.
Cold turkey's gonna be a bitch.
I just want to know what would have happened to us if there were no Sam Seders, Mike Malloys, Randi Rhodes, and Thom Hartmans, Rachel Maddows etc...? I have learend so much from these people in the last couple of years. Bless you all! You are the beacons of our struggle.

don't you love your country!!
Folks, Lionel has slept with the new program director.
Sam is being replaced because of lust.
"Yep..a co-operative venture..."
Yeah, instead of the co-opted venture it has become.
i figger he's doing a quick read to see who's here and what up.
might take em a while...
Would anyone have any idea who to contact at MSNBC, to offer a recommendation, or reference?
Who better to write in than current Keith Olbermann fans who also happen to want to see Sam with his own show?
"I truly am looking forward to the political possibilities of "Sunday With Seder"--instant response to the Sunday stupidity from Sam and His Blogger Pals. if you think about it, it's really, really needed--finally, a reality-based antidote to this awful Media/Corporatocracy. it could, truly, be historic.
but it SHOULDA been in addition to the Daily Seder, Green, you chump."

Yeah, what she said.
it does seem like msnbc succenly has an opening...
I've emailed like every link I could find on msnbc's website. Othe than that I don't know what to do. Hey, question, is 6Lio6nel6 starting on Monday? or are they doing reruns or what?
Yes Sir!
"Can i have some more please?"
Y'know Sam would do it, for as much as he made on the radio show.
That'd be peanuts compared to what they paid Imus.
Hey...CBS has an opening too!
Harold, I'd love to see Sam have his own MSNBC show.
lionel doesn't start til 5/14
Supposedly Lee Rayburn'll be filling in for a week.
Guess what most of his callers will want to talk about?
its 2:20am here in Sydney...and thats only by the grace of daylight savings. i have been known to stay till 4in the morning when the SammyCams are up.
I will taste the other food on the talk radio buffet to be sure. but there has been a standard set.
so, okay, then, has everyone here emailed msnbc? and does anyone know a specific place to email? Like I said, I tried a bunch of addresses, but they could all be junk ones.
tiff
Lionel's show is awful. I know Sam said several times this week that whatever strengthens AAR is a good thing, but honestly I don't see how Lionel will do that.
If AAR wants to be a strong progressive voice in a mostly spineless media, then replacing a strong well-informed voice like Sam's with a pithy drive-time morning show wannabe like Lionel makes *NO* sense.
so what're they doing until Lionel starts?
tiff
Heh, heya Punditfight.
The Sunday show'll be at a better time for ya, eh?
"Stay tuned for a blog message directly from Sam after the show"
so...
about that message?
That first anti-constitutional moment of the 2000 election has spawned the serial trampling of our constitution in the 6+ years since.
Rachael will be the only other show I hate to miss since Malloy got fired. Hartmann can be accessed from his own website (I wish Sam would do the same as Hartmann) and Randi is hard to take on a regular basis. However, I have to give AAR credit for starting and giving so many of us the incentive to move forward the Progressive Movement. Toooo bad AAR took the dive.
Thank you, Sam, et. al. You have done more than you will ever know.

Yeah I wouldn't venture to guess how Sam really feels (other than the obvious), but I know I couldn't stand Lionel when I listened to his 'best of' online.

I have very little faith that the "seder on sundays" show will actually air. To me, it sounds like some BS intended to mollify Sam so he "behaves" in his final weeks (not that he would do otherwise).
Look what hapened to Maron. They canned him, gave him another show and then gave it so little support that it lasted only a few weeks.

I don't post often, but I listen all the time.
Sammy, you're the best. You, Rachel and Mark Riley have been my daily AAR fix for ages now. The morning is going to be much quieter for me.
But Sunday afternoons are going to rock!
Lionel earned my eternal boycott when he called bigotry and racism "just good clean fun" and told people offended to lighten up and stop being so PC.
Goodnight, Schmoopy... :)
A show with Sam and Maron would never work out. Sam has a positive relationship with his audience and Maron thrives on anxiety, angst and confrontation with his listeners.
Seriously, who the fuck is going to listen to Lionel? They're effectively leaving the timeslot open for several weeks -- just enough time to give everyone a chance to switch over to Stephanie Miller.
By the time this douchebag actually starts on AAR, nobody will be around to listen.

My guess is that AAR must truly WANT to fail. Money talks quality walks.
War puppy:Get LOST ON YOUR WAY BACK FROM VAKA!!
my guess
AAR was designed as a safety valve
with a built in corporate on/off switch.
maybe with all that business success - they did abusiness failure write off.
I've been looking for trancripts or mp3's of his show for a week now. No joy, so far.

Just turned off my last air america show...
Sam's exit was classy...
Screw AAR... replacing someone like Sam Seder with a douche bag like Lionel is just ignorant...
I need stuff that goes back to at least 05-06
On the phone with WOR, asking them about transcripts. So far, everybody is stupid. They must not get many folks asking for this stuff.
Good luck, waitingforcicero. I'd love to see those transcripts give AAR management a better picture of the lousy trade they just made
cicero: have you listened to lionel? Do you honestly think anybody would bother to write that shit down?
They just shuffled me around until I got a voice mail for Lionel's producer. Left him a msg.
I can't stand that kind of mindless crap. Ed Schultz pisses me off badly enough, got no reason to listen to something with less substance, and more blather.
HERE ARE THE FULL LYRICS TOO THE SONG-
Jerry Springer, you are a putz.
You say that you're a progressive, but you got no guts.
I called you up one day, and I tried to set you straight,
About impeaching Bush and Rathergate. (you didn't listen)
You regurgitated and you mentally masturbated.
The same old media spin that I so hate.
Sammy Seder, you are my leader.
Your ratings must have broke the Neilson meter.
The media brigade, I know you've all been paid.
Unbought, unbossed was something you made up.
But Sammy told the truth, and made it funny too.
I laughed so hard I thought I would throw up.
In my coffee cup.
THE SONG WILL BE AVAILABLE TO LISTEN AND DOWNLOAD ON MY SITE SOON-IT IS A NEW VERSION OF MY OLD SONG MEDIA BRIGADE-

Exclusive: White House Held Meeting To Pressure Reporters On ‘Division’ Among War Critics
Last week, Bush administration officials invited senior congressional reporters to the White House and pressured them to increase their coverage of how Iraq war critics are “divided” over legislative strategy, multiple sources have confirmed with ThinkProgress.
The sources say White House officials pointed to examples of national political reporters who have highlighted such “division” and pressed the congressional reporters to follow suit. Specifically, the White House pointed to a recent AP piece on Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), which reported that Obama believes that “[i]f President Bush vetoes an Iraq war spending bill as promised, Congress quickly will provide the money without the withdrawal timeline the White House objects to.” In a speech this week, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) also drew attention to the AP’s characterization:
When the president vetoes, as he should, the bill that refuses to support General Petraeus’ new plan, I hope Democrats in Congress will heed the advice of one of their leading candidates for president, Senator Obama, and immediately pass a new bill to provide support to our troops in Iraq without substituting their partisan interests for those of our troops and our country.
The effort to highlight this article is notable because it turned out to be baseless. The AP report never directly quoted Obama saying that Congress would give up its fight for a withdrawal timeline, and Obama has said the AP’s characterization is false. Indeed, Obama has been quoted saying the direct opposite — that Congress will continue to force votes on a timeline — both before and after the AP report.
In fact, congressional opponents of the war are remarkably united on efforts to set a timeline for redeployment, bolstered by consistent public opinion polls showing broad public support for withdrawal. Meanwhile, conservatives are splintering. This week, a “diverse collection of House Republicans has formed an ad hoc group” to encourage the White House “to compromise on negotiations with Syria and Iran and on setting a date for withdrawal from Iraq.”
The White House is in a losing fight and wants the media to help them carry water. We’ll be watching to see if any congressional reporters fall in line and write up the White House spin.

The spam carries a ZIP file attachment posing as a patch with subjects such as Worm Alert!, Worm Detected, Spyware Detected!, or Virus Activity Detected."
Head to kos with that meme, jill.
Lotta folks that like Seder, and what he's done for the 'sphere, over there.

didja catch the show?
OK - I think Sammy's message is on the podcast - I just went to download and the file size is bigger than the normal size - most of his shows are 19.8 - todays show is 26.03 - keep you posted.
I think Sam could reinvent himself in any number of ways. How about a politically minded cooking show on FoodTV? :-D
Seriously, though, I hope that Sam finds a full-time venue soon. I'll take the blog + a Sunday show, but I'd prefer a 5-day show on any radio or TV outlet. My political I.Q. is going to drop substantially without this show. Working 60+ hour weeks makes it hard to catch up on all the news and blogs that I will need to access to make up for what I'll be missing now.
It is bigger, totally
But according to iTunes also shorter, by two minutes.
marcmaronrules, you might like the website my screen names takes you to.
I'm not technically pimping my own stuff, it's just a screw-you-for-cancelling-Morning-Sedition link hub. And yes, I had a lot of free time that week.
Now this. Yeesh. AAR is aiming squarely at people with defective ears.
Holy shit, the DOJ document dump today has a bunch of redacted info in it. The prob is that when they scanned the papers, the scanner read through the marked out portions, so much of what was redacted is legible.

As I posted Yesterday, I checked my old computer for the emails I sent to Lionel. The last emails I have occurred on April 26, 2006 and May 27, 2006. Unfortunately, they were not the ones about Rachel.
Anything before that was deleted. The one in April was about negative remarks made about sexual harassment, and the one in May was about illegal immigration.
The incident with Rachel probably occurred before then. It happened around the time Rachel had a short position with MSNBC. She was a commentator on the Tucker Carlson show. It didn’t last long.
Lionel was on in Ohio six days a week. His time slot was the same as Mike Malloy. This is when Malloy was with Air America. I complained to the station (WTPG) about Lionel. There were attempts to get him off by some Progressives. However, after the November elections occurred, WPTG, was snatched off the air.
I’m currently checking some other emails. I think I may have sent one to Laura Flanders about this incident. But as I said yesterday, I swear absolutely, Lionel said those things. Somebody out there should be able to find that show.

You're welcome, mmr, but let me make it crystal clear: the second link, I had nothing to do with. Hence the quality to be found therein.
The crappy one with the unwieldy URL, that's mine.

marcmaronrules,
You can catch the last segment at KPTK -- which puts the show up by segments -- the address is http://www.am1090seattle.com/. Go to Audio, then Sam Seder. I think today's show will probably be added by late afternoon EDT.

Wow, I am up to 6 hits. 4 of them my own.
Just to clarify, I am not gay (married with kid) but I am in love with Sammy. He was there for me every morning.....this is a wicked pissah!!!!!!
Roxie, thanks*, and no, I haven't updated it since MS got cancelled. I forgot it existed, actually.
The Sedition Radio thing is news to me--just saw the banner when I hunted down the clip site--but if PJ's got anything to do with it, I'm intrigued. That dude's like a mystical warrior sent from another dimension to give MS the respect it deserved.
*As in, thanks for recognizing my ability to cut & paste content generated by others. I will, however, gladly take credit for choosing the template with the twitching Flash tail.
Thank you too roxieseattle!!

mmr, it's Hobbes's description of the natural state of man (from "The Leviathan," I think). I'll dispell the whiff of pretention by admitting that I actually didn't know who coined it until you asked.
Chronic depression, huh? Dude, I'm with ya. I went the psychopharmaceutical route for a while, and it worked okay, but our current political situation has been my magical cure-all. Thirty seconds of a Bush press conference and I'm like, "why would I waste my precious loathing by turning it inward?"
